What is Landscape Architecture?: Mapping the Gaps Between Expert and Public Understandings of Landscape Architecture
DOWNLOADIn this report, we dig into public thinking—or lack thereof—about landscape architecture and the field’s subject matter. If lack of public understanding of the profession were simply a hole in people’s knowledge, it could, in theory, be filled by simply providing more information. But people’s thinking is rarely so simple. As this report documents, the public’s ability to productively absorb information about the field is constrained by deep assumptions about nature, design, and outdoor spaces. These assumptions and implicit understandings make increasing public understanding of landscape architecture a substantial challenge.
