Marisa Gerstein Pineau

Marisa Gerstein Pineau serves as the Director of Research Application at FrameWorks, where she blends her roles as both researcher and strategist. With a deep understanding of reframing research, Marisa guides projects from their inception through to dissemination, ensuring that the insights gained are effectively applied. Over her tenure at FrameWorks, she has led projects spanning issues such as adolescence and adolescent development; economic justice; health equity; and education. As a strategist, she develops deep and ongoing partnerships with advocates, researchers, and funders across various fields and provides reframing guidance, insights, and trainings. A sociologist by training, Marisa’s earlier research focused on gender and family, medicine, culture, and public policy. Before joining FrameWorks, she served as a program officer with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, where she co-edited “The Integration of Immigrants into American Society”, a landmark review of immigrant integration in the U.S. Marisa holds a BA in sociology from the late New College of Florida, and an MA and PhD in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
