Jennifer (Jen) John is the Director for Quantitative Research at the FrameWorks Institute. Prior to joining FrameWorks in 2021, Jen received her MSW from Boston University, where she focused on nonprofit management, program development, and program evaluation. She received her PhD in experimental psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2022. As a social worker, Jen has worked and consulted with a variety of nonprofit agencies to provide direct services and advance social justice on issues related to child welfare, LGBTQ+ rights, aging, homelessness, and criminal justice reform. As an experimental psychologist, Jen’s research integrates the fields of developmental, cognitive, social, and educational psychology. She has conducted quantitative and mixed-methods research on educational equity, with a particular focus on math anxiety and inequities in math-intensive STEM fields. Some of her favorite research has investigated how racist and sexist experiences with math ability become integrated into one’s own narrative identity, ultimately influencing their self-beliefs and future career choices. Her work has been published in Contemporary Educational Psychology, Child Development, and the International Journal of Gender, Science, and Technology.
