There’s a gap between how much Americans say they care about kids and what they’re willing to do for them.
In 2021, the FrameWorks Institute, a nonprofit that studies how people understand social issues, partnered with nonprofit advocacy group Leading for Kids to investigate the cultural mindsets that influence how much our nation invests in kids. What we found is that Americans view “kids’ issues” as the concern of an individual family (“I’m in charge of my kids; you’re in charge of yours”). We need to change that to a mindset that taking care of America’s kids is a collective responsibility – so we can adopt public policies to match.
